On the Limiting Distribution of Program Sizes in Tree-Based Genetic Programming

چکیده
We provide strong theoretical and experimental evidence that standard sub-tree crossover with uniform selection of crossover points pushes a population of a-ary GP trees towards a distribution of tree sizes of the form: Pr{n} = (1− apa) ( an+ 1 n ) (1− pa) pa where n is the number of internal nodes in a tree and pa is a constant. This result generalises the result previously reported for the case a = 1.

A Mixed Integer Programming Approach to Optimal Feeder Routing for Tree-Based Distribution System: A Case Study
A genetic algorithm is proposed to optimize a tree-structured power distribution network considering optimal cable sizing. For minimizing the total cost of the network, a mixed-integer programming model is presented determining the optimal sizes of cables with minimized location-allocation cost. For designing the distribution lines in a power network, the primary factors must be considered as m...

An Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm is proposed for optimal tree-structured natural gas distribution network. Design of pipelines, facilities, and equipment systems are necessary tasks to configure an optimal natural gas network. A mixed integer programming model is formulated to minimize the total cost in the network. The aim is to optimize pipe diameter sizes so that the location-alloc...
متن کاملCompact Suffix Trees Resemble PATRICIA Tries: Limiting Distribution of the Depth
Suffix trees are the most frequently used data structures in algorithms on words. In this paper, we consider the depth of a compact suffix tree, also known as the PAT tree, under some simple probabilistic assumptions. For a biased memoryless source, we prove that the limiting distribution for the depth in a PAT tree is the same as the limiting distribution for the depth in a PATRICIA trie, even...

Abstract – Distributed generation (DG) technology is known as an efficient solution for applying in distribution system planning (DSP) problems. Load growth uncertainty associated with distribution network is a significant source of uncertainty which highly affects optimal management of DGs. In order to handle this problem, a novel model is proposed in this paper based on DG solution, consideri...
متن کاملCrossover, Sampling, Bloat and the Harmful Effects of Size Limits
Recent research [9,2] has enabled the accurate prediction of the limiting distribution of tree sizes for Genetic Programming with standard sub-tree swapping crossover when GP is applied to a flat fitness landscape. In that work, however, tree sizes are measured in terms of number of internal nodes. While the relationship between internal nodes and length is one-to-one for the case of a-ary tree...
